West Gippsland Healthcare Group, Health Information Services Team, currently have casual vacancies within their team for Health Information Services Clerks/Receptionists.
The Health Information Services (HIS) Clerk and Reception position is a dynamic role and is to provide general clerical duties relating to the functions of the Health Information Service (HIS) ensuring confidentiality and security of patient information is always maintained.
The role is multi-skilled and will encompass working throughout the different roles of the department, but primarily this role will be responsible for working with the hospital’s main reception team.
The HIS Clerk & Reception Role involves the processing of patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, managing patient information and paperwork, and managing front-line communication with patients, families, and staff around multiple departments of the hospital.
Casuals are employed on an 'as needs' basis to backfill leave and extra shifts on days, nights and weekends. Casual positions do not include regular hours.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Customer focused and customer service experience
- Demonstrated skills in effective communication, consultation, and interpersonal relations.
- Demonstrated computer skills and experience with software applications including Microsoft Office and general knowledge of patient administration systems.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise own work and to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- A thorough understanding and respect for confidentiality requirements.
- Responsible and mature work attitude.
- A strong team player with demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
- Comfortable and confident with speaking on overhead pager system throughout the hospital.
- Adapt to changes within the daily roster.
The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a health service.
- Knowledge of privacy legislation and document control.
- Previous experience using patient administration systems.
IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
