CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield).
Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH also provides aged care and community services in the Wellington Shire and beyond.
We operate four residential aged care homes located in Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield delivering high-quality, person-centred care in supportive and homelike environments.
CGH provides a wide range of community-based services that support people to remain healthy, active, and independent in their own homes. This includes the provision of Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs, and other in-home services tailored to individual needs.
Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

About Department
The Library’s core function is to provide a physical and digital information service to staff, placement students, affiliated community health providers and subscribed community members.
The Library services all Central Gippsland Health & Bairnsdale Regional Health (BRHS) campuses and works collaboratively with other Gippsland health libraries.
About the Role – Part Time (EFT 0.6)
Lead a Library Service for Central Gippsland Health & Bairnsdale Regional Health Service that is multi-disciplinary and informs decision-making in-patient care, education, research, business and management.
Support evidence-based practice, research and continuous learning for staff, students and the communities of Central & East Gippsland.
Duties
- Oversee a CGH-BRHS Library Service that has 24 hour local and remote access underpinned by strong and secure credentialed operating systems and a dynamic collection of evidence-based resources
- Promote a culture of evidence-based practice, learning and research in partnership with managers, tertiary placement coordinators, business units and support teams in order to:
- Drive evidenced informed health support and practices that deliver both safe and improved outcomes for the patient, carer and family
- Develop and maintain information collections that are both current and relevant to agency and affiliated tertiary institution needs
- Steer and manage organization history collections ensuring optimal and appropriate provenance, record keeping, storage and access
- Ensure Library Service staff are informed, mentored and supervised in their roles
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Relevant vocational or tertiary qualification at diploma level or above with eligibility for Australian Library & Information Association (ALIA) membership
- Health and/or tertiary sector experience
- In-depth understanding of learning, teaching and research, and experience with the provision of library services including the operation of information technologies that support the delivery of information
- Sound knowledge of Research, Literature searching & Systematic reviews
- Knowledge of trends in scholarly publishing and national and international initiatives in changes and challenges of scholarly communication
- Excellent communication, negotiation and persuasion skills, with an ability to build key internal and external stakeholder relationships alongside a strong commitment to development, equity and diversity (includes health service, government, industry, relevant professions and wider communities)
- An understanding of current trends in the higher education sector domestically and internationally, and the ability to interpret issues with reference to CGH & BRHS core values
