About the Medical Imaging Department

Central Gippsland Health Medical Imaging is a large and comprehensive regional imaging service providing diagnostic imaging across multiple sites. Our department performs all major imaging modalities with the exception of PET and Angiography.

Services include:

  • General X-ray
  • CT
  • MRI
  • Ultrasound
  • Mammography
  • BreastScreen Victoria
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Bone Density (DEXA)
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Echocardiography
  • Dental Imaging

Medical Imaging services are provided from two Sale locations.

The department supports a high-volume patient workload and is staffed by a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Administration Assistant to join our Medical Imaging team.

This role is integral to the daily operation of the department and involves working across reception, bookings, patient administration, accounts and cashiering functions. You will be the first point of contact for patients, referrers and clinicians, ensuring a professional, efficient and welcoming experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient bookings and appointment scheduling across multiple imaging modalities
  • Provide reception and front-of-house services for patients, visitors and referrers
  • Process patient registrations and maintain accurate medical records
  • Perform cashiering and payment processing duties
  • Assist with accounts and administrative support functions
  • Enter and maintain data within the Radiology Information System (RIS)
  • Communicate effectively with patients, clinicians and external referrers
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with privacy requirements
  • Support the broader Medical Imaging administration team to maintain efficient workflow and service delivery

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Previous experience in administration, reception or customer service roles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy team environment
  • Certificate III in Business Administration (or equivalent experience)

Highly Desirable

  • Previous experience working within a Medical Imaging, Radiology, Diagnostic Imaging or Healthcare setting
  • Experience using a Radiology Information System (RIS) and/or Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
  • Knowledge of Medicare billing, accounts receivable and patient registration processes
  • Experience managing high-volume appointment bookings and patient enquiries
