CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.

 

About the Team

The Advanced Trainee General Medicine is one of two Trainee positions in this team, who work with a small team of Medical Registrars and Interns to manage medical patients under five General Physicians. The teams work collaboratively and closely together with the broader medical team, as well as others throughout the Health Service. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Clinical management of medical admitted inpatients under the care of Physicians, including appropriate history taking, physical examination, investigation, assessment, care planning and coordination
  • Regularly review paitnet care objectives, physical and mental status, including development and communciation of a discharge plan
  • Maintain patient flow and excellent quality of care in collaboration with others 
  • Provide clinical support for other Registrars
  • Facilitate discharge summaries and support Registrars and Interns with completing other discharge summaries as required, on day of discharge
  • Participate in, and perform certain procedures, with increasing independence over time
  • Attend emergency Codes and MET calls within the Hospital
  • Further duties as outlined in the Position Description

 


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • MBBS or equivalent degree enabling General registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Satisfactory completion of the FRACP Written Examination +/ the Clinical Examination and are eligible to progress to Provisional Advanced Training
  • Registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA (note - eligible applicants will be assisted through this process if not currently registered)

Desirable:

  • Completion of BPT Postgraduate training
