Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is the major provider of health and aged care services across the Wellington Shire and a leading sub-regional health service in Gippsland.
Our integrated health service operates across three campuses in Sale, Maffra and Heyfield and delivers a broad range of acute, sub-acute, community and aged care services. Acute services include a 24/7 Emergency Department, Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Critical Care Unit, Operating Theatres, Oncology, Dialysis and comprehensive Medical Imaging services.
The CGH Medical Imaging Department is a progressive and well-equipped service providing:
- General X-ray
- CT
- MRI
- Ultrasound
- Mammography
- Fluoroscopy
- Nuclear Medicine
- Bone Density Scanning
- BreastScreen Victoria
- Echocardiography
Services are delivered across two modern Sale locations, as well as outreach services to Fulham Correctional Centre.
Our CT service is built around state-of-the-art GE Revolution Apex and GE CT Ascend scanners, supporting a growing range of advanced examinations and clinical services.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated CT Supervisor to provide clinical leadership for our CT service while contributing as a key member of the Medical Imaging Leadership Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled CT Radiographer who is passionate about advanced imaging, service improvement, leadership, and education.
The successful applicant will lead the ongoing development of the CT service, support the growth and capability of staff, and play a significant role in training students and developing the next generation of radiographers.
You will work closely with radiologists, clinicians, medical imaging leaders and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred imaging services.
What You'll Be Doing
Advanced Clinical CT Practice
- Perform and oversee a broad range of routine and advanced CT examinations.
- Provide expert clinical support for complex CT cases.
- Maintain excellent image quality while ensuring patient safety and radiation dose optimisation.
- Support contrast administration and management of adverse events.
- Participate in the CT on-call roster.
CT Modality Leadership
- Lead the development, review and optimisation of CT protocols.
- Drive best-practice CT service delivery across the department.
- Maintain the CT Diagnostic Reference Level (DRL) portfolio and dose auditing in accordance with NDRLD guidelines.
- Manage CT consumables, contrast media ordering and stock control.
- Coordinate quarterly CT user group meetings.
- Contribute to strategic planning and departmental initiatives as a member of the Medical Imaging Leadership Team.
Education, Training & Workforce Development
At CGH, education is a core part of what we do.
You will play a pivotal role in:
- Supporting the onboarding and competency development of radiographers entering CT practice.
- Mentoring early career radiographers.
- Delivering structured clinical supervision and education to students.
- Creating a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Supporting staff pursuing advanced CT skills and cross-modality development.
- Conducting Capability Development Plan (CDP) reviews and providing coaching and professional guidance.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor image quality, workflow efficiency and patient experience.
- Lead audits, quality improvement initiatives and incident reviews.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety, infection control and accreditation requirements.
- Champion innovation and evidence-based practice within the CT service.
About You
You are an experienced CT Radiographer who combines technical excellence with a passion for leadership, education and service development.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging) or equivalent.
- Current AHPRA Registration.
- Current Victorian Radiation Use Licence.
- Demonstrated experience in hospital-based medical imaging services.
- Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Proven ability to mentor, coach and develop others.
Highly Desirable
- Advanced CT scanning experience including:
- CT Coronary Angiography
- CT Stroke Imaging
- Interventional CT procedures
- Experience with GE CT platforms.
- Previous supervisory, leadership or senior radiographer experience.
- Experience in protocol optimisation and dose management programs.
- Demonstrated involvement in quality improvement activities.
