CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield).
Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH also provides aged care and community services in the Wellington Shire and beyond.
We operate four residential aged care homes located in Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield delivering high-quality, person-centred care in supportive and homelike environments.
CGH provides a wide range of community-based services that support people to remain healthy, active, and independent in their own homes. This includes the provision of Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs, and other in-home services tailored to individual needs.
Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

About Department
The Finance team provide comprehensive financial advice and services to CGH, including; management accounting, financial accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
About the Role
You are a key member of the Finance leadership team and is expected to provide decision making advice, build capability, and partner with clinical and corporate leaders to support safe, effective and sustainable care.
You are the coordinator of financial integrity for the Health Service. The role leads end‑to‑end financial control, statutory reporting, compliance, and transactional finance services to ensure accurate, timely and reliable financial information for decision‑making.
Acting as the Chief Finance Officer’s delegate, the Financial Controller drives a robust control environment, delivers high‑quality management reporting and budgets, ensures compliance with the Standing Directions of the Minister for Finance 2018, Financial Management Act 1994 (Vic), applicable Financial Reporting Directions (FRDs), and Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
Duties
- Lead and develop a high‑performing finance team; build succession, capability, and a culture of service, integrity, and improvement.
- Provide clear priorities, coaching, and performance management aligned to organisational values and public sector codes of conduct.
- Act as Deputy CFO, including deputising at Executive and Board Sub‑Committees as required.
- Lead preparation of monthly and annual statutory accounts in accordance with AASB, FRDs, Model Financial Statements for Victorian public hospitals, and Health Service policies.
- Maintain and continually strengthen the internal control framework, including segregation of duties and financial delegations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team to achieve high performance and deliver consistent, quality outcomes.
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or related discipline
- CA, CPA or IPA qualified
- Written response outlining capabilities against each CGH Leadership and Management Capability Heading (as identified at D, E and F in position description).
- Experience of at least 5 years in financial and management accounting tasks in a medium sized organisation and working in multidisciplinary teams.
