About the Department

The CGH Engineering Services team supports the safe, reliable and compliant operation of facilities, plant, equipment and essential infrastructure across CGH's multiple campuses and service locations. Working closely with clinical and corporate teams, Engineering Services delivers preventative and reactive maintenance, contractor coordination, minor works and facility improvements to support the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

About the Role

You will provide day-to-day leadership, coordination and technical support to the Engineering and Maintenance team, contractors and apprentices across CGH sites.

You will lead planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities, prioritise workloads and coordinate resources to ensure facilities, plant and equipment are maintained safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation, standards and organisational requirements.

You will also undertake complex maintenance activities within your trade qualifications and experience, contribute to minor works and capital projects, and support a positive culture of safety, teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.

As the first point of contact for operational maintenance issues, you will work closely with the General Manager Engineering Services, CGH departments and external contractors to ensure maintenance requirements are effectively managed and communicated.

Duties

• Lead, allocate and oversee the work of maintenance staff, apprentices and contractors, providing coaching, support and feedback to promote high-quality performance.
• Coordinate planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and urgent repairs, including oversight of the maintenance management program and accurate recording of work activities.
• Undertake and coordinate complex maintenance, commissioning, testing, servicing and inspection of plant, machinery, building services and essential infrastructure.
• Monitor contractor compliance, safe-work systems, permits, risk controls and adherence to relevant OHS legislation, Australian Standards and CGH policies.
• Assist with minor works, capital upgrades, procurement, contractor management and continuous improvement initiatives, providing updates and recommendations to the General Manager Engineering Services.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Relevant trade and/or engineering qualification, with current knowledge and experience relevant to engineering and maintenance services.
• Demonstrated team leadership skills, including the ability to allocate work, support staff development and promote a positive and productive team culture.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, coordination and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with staff, contractors and a range of stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in electrical or mechanical trades, with five or more years' experience desirable; health, hospital or facilities management experience is also highly regarded.
• Current driver's licence and demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, compliance, quality and continuous improvement.

CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield).

Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.

CGH also provides aged care and community services in the Wellington Shire and beyond.

We operate four residential aged care homes located in Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield delivering high-quality, person-centred care in supportive and homelike environments.

CGH provides a wide range of community-based services that support people to remain healthy, active, and independent in their own homes. This includes the provision of Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs, and other in-home services tailored to individual needs.

Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.

CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.
