CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield).
Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.
CGH also provides aged care and community services in the Wellington Shire and beyond.
We operate four residential aged care homes located in Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield delivering high-quality, person-centred care in supportive and homelike environments.
CGH provides a wide range of community-based services that support people to remain healthy, active, and independent in their own homes. This includes the provision of Support at Home, Commonwealth Home Support Programs, and other in-home services tailored to individual needs.
Our integrated model of care is supported by a multidisciplinary allied health team offering physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and social work. We also provide accessible public dental services to enhance community wellbeing.
CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

The CGH Allied Health Department is made up of about 50 professionals in Physiotherapy/Exercise Physiology, Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Podiatry and Social Work. Last year we provided therapy to over 6,500 clients in community and outpatients and receive an average of 500 referrals across Allied Health disciplines per month.
Allied Health clinical educators work closely with our new graduates to provide support, guidance and development through our New Graduate/Early Career program.
About the Role
Our team is growing! We are seeking two an enthusiastic and motivated new graduates/grade 1 Physiotherapists to join our team at Central Gippsland Health (CGH). This position offers the opportunity to obtain experience across a broad spectrum of Public Health services. Offering a mixed caseload, across hospital, community, outpatients and aged care settings in a thriving and vibrant rural health setting. There are opportunities to expand into speciality areas such as Paediatrics, Hand Therapy and Women’s Health supported by experienced specialist physiotherapists within the team.
You will work in a rotating caseload as part of a large team (20 EFT) comprising of Grade 1 therapists Grade 2 therapists, A Grade 3 therapist, 4 Exercise Physiologists, and 6 EFT of Allied Health Assistants and a Department Head. Within the Physiotherapy department we offer over 20 community-based rehabilitation groups additional to our acute and outpatient service. Acute caseload includes working over Critical Care Unit, Emergency Department, Medical and Surgical wards and Women’s Health and Paediatrics. Community caseload covers both group and individual based rehabilitation, outreach at, Maffra and home-based therapy. CGH offers acute orthopaedics with total hip & knee replacements and ACL repairs happening on site. CGH services four aged care sites in the area.
