CGH provides acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. The service provides beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield). Acute services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services in addition to general medical and services and sub-acute services including rehabilitation.

 

CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health and provides placements and clinical experience for students.

 

About Department

Surgical ward is a busy 18 bed ward located within Central Gippsland Health’s main Sale campus.

We also run the Hospital in the Home (HITH) program through the Surgical ward which allows for excellent career progression and opportunity for growth and development.

 

 

Duties

  • Work across all shifts
  • Establish a relationship between the patient and yourself in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for your patients.
  • Recognise a change in the patient’s condition, in particular deterioration, take necessary action and document variation in the care plan.
  • Balance competing priorities and work demands, and identify and respond appropriately to critical and urgent clinical needs.
  • Escalate concerns regarding safety, quality of care and risk issues to the in-charge nurse.
  • Support the development of, complies with and ensures organisational policies and procedures are followed and that clinical standards are constantly monitored and met.
  • Ensure that the in-charge nurse is informed of any practices that may inhibit the delivery of a high standard of patient/client care.
