CGH offers comprehensive acute care through an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond. It operates beds across three campuses: Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield. Services include a full-time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services, general medical services, and sub-acute services such as rehabilitation.
CGH is also a prominent teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health, providing placements and clinical experience for students.

About the Department
The CGH Allied Health Department comprises approximately 60 professionals in Physiotherapy/Exercise Physiology, Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Podiatry, and Social Work. Last year, we provided therapy to over 6,500 clients in community and outpatient settings, averaging 500 referrals across Allied Health disciplines per month.

CGH Social Workers provides counselling, emotional support, advocacy and referrals for patients and families. They can help you determine the most appropriate care to meet your and your family’s social and health needs.
CGH Social Workers focus on the whole person and their social circumstances by advocating for patient and family/carer rights, improving access to care while ensuring dignity, choice and
self-determination.
Duties
· Comprehensive assessment of individuals from a biopsychosocial perspective, involving individuals, families and communities.
· Risk assessments for family violence, child abuse, sexual abuse and exploitation.
· Utilising therapeutic intervention to enable individuals/families to adjust to an acute hospital admission
· Brief psycho social education to enable adjustments to changes in roles, trauma, change in diagnosis, emotional/social responses to illness and treatment.
· Grief, loss and bereavement to individuals and families
· Carer support to individuals and families
· Crisis intervention to support individuals and families deal with trauma events
· Participating in multi-disciplinary team in the hospital and the community
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
An Australian Association of Social Workers accredited Bachelor Degree of Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the Association or relevant qualifications and experience in working with the psychological health and wellbeing of vulnerable children and families
Experience providing social support in health-related settings
Current driver’s licence
